PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES – information about facilities and obstacles

 
Wheelchair accessibility:
– adequate door opening widths
– no ramps in front of the main entrance
– no steps or stairs in front of the main entrance, although there is a 40-cm long inclined plane tilted at ca. 10%, which can be cleared with the help of the museum’s assistant, if necessary
– a doorbell for requesting assistance is placed by the main entrance at a height of 140 cm
– at the back of the building, from the side of the car park, there is a ramp accessible via a pebble road. To open the back door it is necessary to contact a museum employee (tel. 71 356 42 57)

Accessibility for people with hearing impairments:
– information boards and signs have not been prepared especially for people with hearing impairments, so they may be insufficient
– no information on video displays or neon boards
– no technical facilities for hearing-impaired people
– no museum employee knowing the sign language
– no visual confirmation of using the alarm in the lift

Facilities for people with visual impairments:
– contrasting colours used to warn against low ceilings
– buttons in the lift can be felt and have numbers in the Braille alphabet
– the ticket office and information desk are located near the entrance
– no tactile displays
– no descriptions, announcements or signals transmitted with sound
– no contrasting marking on the glass doors, first and last steps in flights of stairs

Facilities for people with mental disorders or having difficulties with reading
– the ticket office and information desk are located near the entrance

Accessible for people with assistance dogs

Car park
– parking spaces can be accessed from Strzegomska Street, after crossing a barrier. From the side of the car park, there is a ramp accessible via a pebble road. To open the back door it is necessary to contact a museum employee (tel. 71 356 42 57). In order to reach the main entrance from the car park it is necessary to go up five steps on the right side or eight steps on the left; there is no handrail
– no parking spaces allotted exclusively to people with disabilities
– no parking spaces allotted exclusively to families with children

The lift is wheelchair-accessible
– adequate door opening widths and size of the lift
– the top button is not higher than 140 cm above the floor

The toilet is wheelchair-accessible

Not all rooms are wheelchair-accessible
– Beautiful Tube, a space for holding meetings and various public initiatives, is an original spatial installation whose floor consists of steps situated at different heights. It cannot be used by people on wheelchairs

Public and educational programmes
Utmost attention is paid by our experienced curators of the public and educational programmes to prepare a number of activities accompanying each exhibition, which are addressed to people with different disabilities.
All Museum employees do their best to help people with disabilities to move around the building.
