6.03.2016 A for avantgarde

During the meeting we will pay a visit to Marlena Kudlicka’s exhibition, whose works make a reference to the practice of artists such as Katarzyna Kobro or Władysław Strzemiński, who are counted among the classics of Polish avantgarde. We will bear in mind the paradox of this phrase. Together we will think what “avantgarde” means and why art, which for centuries tried to imitate the reality, in the 20th century began to follow completely different principles. In the practical part we will try
to come up with our own avantgarde movement.

13.03.2016 A beautiful disaster

Among the problems preoccupying Marlena Kudlicka, whose exhibition is currently on show at Wrocław Contemporary Museum, is mistake in art. The artist is aware that she will never fully succeed in implementing her creative intention. It results from the imperfection of measuring tools, which has their margin of error, as well as from the unpredictability of the creative act. During the meeting we will think about the difference between failure and success. Is it only about the degree to which the intended goals have been reached? Maybe other answers can be found in the field of art. In the practical part we will take the liberty of making errors, mistakes and creative failures that will lead us to new solutions.

20.03.2016 Rootoplasty

Inspired by the interactive exhibition “In the Earth”, during this edition of the family workshops we will return to the roots. What are they? What symbols do they carry? What can we show thanks to them? Why is it important to be aware of them? After the discussion we will visit the interior of the installation in order to find out what awaits us in the darkness. The second part of the meeting will be spent on the museum yard, where we will celebrate the first day if spring by lighting a bonfire and burning an effigy of Marzanna.
