Sunday Family Workshops

05.05.13–26.05.13

All parents with their children are welcome to join us each Sunday at 1:30 PM. All workshops take one hour and consist of two parts. First we visit the up-to-date exhibition together and we talk about the works presented there. During the second part of the workshop we take up manual activities that enable everybody to creatively use their awaken sensitivity and imagination.

5.05 ECO ART

Recycling is also trendy in art. During this workshop we will refer to works of artist that concern ecological topics in their creative output . We will look at visual manifestos of battle over environment and works that are created with use of recyclable materials. Then we will create our own eco- artworks. Please take plastic containers with you (bottles, yogurt containers etc.). We will use them in manual practice.

12.05 LUXUS MAGAZINE

The new exhibition at the Wrocław Contemporary Museum presents works of LUXUS group. Shelter has turned itself into the true magazine of luxurious goods. We can find in it hypnotically colorful paintings, bamboo installation, cats from China, Barbie dolls with beards, uneatable confectionery products and the plan of the battle of Kłobuck. While visiting the exhibition, we will talk about popular culture and the myth of western luxury.

19.05 LUXUS BUILDS PANORAMA OF THE WORLD

Panorama is a complete and total work, and someone how looks at it place himself/ herself in the middle of the world created by artists. During this workshop we will look at the cyberpunk reality built by LUXUS group members. From different materials such as plastic, film, balloons and cardboards, artists have created scenography to their performances. We will see how did the Luxus City constructed by them look like.

26.05 LUXURIUS STREET ART MADE IN POLAND

During this workshop we will look closer at stencils. These visually simple signs can appear in the newspapers, on the streets, cars and clothes. Stencils can carry different meanings. Sometimes it is a joke and sometimes really serious appeal. Stencils made by LUXUS group refer to art world and popular culture depicting Charlie Chaplin, Mickey Mouse, iron of Man Ray or Rembrandt’s “Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp”.
