We invite you to a meeting with Łukasz Guzek, author of the book Rekonstrukcja sztuki akcji w Polsce (The reconstruction of action art in Poland).

The publication summarises the author’s research and experience gathered by working with artists since the early 1990s. It contains the documentation of action art developing in parallel to transformations taking place in art from the mid-1960s to the late 1980s. The book is addressed to researchers and provides them with material that can be used in critical monographs.

The presentation of the book will become a pretext for a discussion on contemporary action art in Poland. The discussants will include the author and invited guests:

Dr Łukasz Guzek
earned his PhD at the Faculty of Art History of the Jagiellonian University, currently works at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. In his professional work he combines art historical research with art criticism and curatorial practice.

Prof. Mirosław Kocur
is a theatre anthropologist and director. He heads the Institute of Culture Studies of the University of Wrocław and lectures at the Wrocław branch of the Stanisław Wyspiański Academy of Theatre Art in Cracow.

Prof. Tomasz Kubikowski
works as an associate professor at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw. Since 2003 he has been Literary Director of the National Theatre in Warsaw. A researcher of theatre and performance, translator, editor and theatre critic.

Prof. Anna Markowska
is an art historian. She graduated in Art History from the Jagiellonian University and completed doctoral studies at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. She is a lecturer at the Institute of Art History of the University of Wrocław.
