At the end of May 2017, Czarne publishing house brought out the book “Ruiny czasu. Rozmowy o twórczości” (Ruins of Time. Conversations on Creativity), which is a recording of conversations between professors Wiesław Juszczak and Dariusz Czaja.

“Professor Wiesław Juszczak is a one-man orchestra. A genuine polyhistorian, as a man proficient in many fields of knowledge used to be called. The book is a recording of conversations with the professor, which revolve around various areas of art – from film to music to painting. The interlocutors’ field of interest includes works by artists who are compatible with Juszczak’s intellectual biography. What we receive in the end is a multidimensional and intriguing registration of thinking about creativity that has been filtered through an individual’s sensitivity.”

What is unique about the creative act and how to talk about it? How can the movement of thoughts, erudition and sophisticated interpretation capture and reveal it? What really matters in art and its descriptions?

These and many other questions will be addressed by:
Prof. Dariusz Czaja
(Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the Jagiellonian University, co-author of the book),

Prof. Anna Markowska

The conversation will be moderated by Dr Piotr Jakub Fereński (Institute of Cultural Studies of Wrocław University).
