(Wednesday), 6.00 PM, Beautiful Tube, admission free
The Wrocław branch of the Polish Association of Cultural Studies and Wrocław Contemporary Museum invite you to another meeting in the “Cultura Lectionis” series.
The pretext for the next meeting will be provided by the recently published book Tropicale by Łukasz Gniadek and Krystyna Jędrzejewska-Szmek.
The title of the book is derived from the name of the collection of engravings from the turn of the 20th century depicting plants gathered by priest Władysław Michał Zaleski, one of the most famous Polish clergymen. The book presents a small section of the Flore Tropicale collection, which contains over thirty thousand engravings, at the same time providing an excuse to look at the history of the complicated relations between Europe and the Orient at the intersection of cultures and civilisations.
Moderator: Maciej Bączyk.
The meeting is part of the project “Anthropocene Museum,” which is carried out by the Institute of Cultural Studies of the University of Wrocław in cooperation with Wrocław Contemporary Museum and the Museum of Natural History in Wrocław.
