Gordon Parks’ photographs talk about an important fragment of the contemporary American (and global) history: opposing racial segregation, political transformations, the everyday life of the black community and an all-encompassing social movement. Against this background there appear different photographs, too – lighter, documenting the lives of film and theatre stars.
What I try to do is to decipher exhibitions using the language that I know best – the language of sociology. Art is a text just like a poem or an interview. During the tour I will direct your attention to those questions and social issues that became the subject of Gordon Parks’ photographs. I am looking forward to having a discussion with you!
