MAKING PUNK A THREAT AGAIN, or something more than just music
Lecture
19.11.15 (Thursday), 6 PM, Beautiful Tube, free admission
Punk is a culture that didn’t allow itself to be locked up in a musty rehearsing room or a boutique with provocative outfits. By exceeding its purely aesthetic role, it offered a possibility of cooperation. It manifested itself as a space for emancipation, individual expression, discussion and exchange of ideas. Punk fulfilled the dream of a true community, offered the feeling of having an influence on the existing reality or being able to create your very own one. I have my own story connected with my participation in the punk culture, and I would like to share it through my fascinating experience with it.
Hubert Kostkiewicz is a social and cultural activist, journalist and musician.
The lecture accompanies the exhibition PUNXDEFEKTUOZOZ: Dr Lakra and Laureana Toledo.
