The project combines musical, culinary, literary, and artistic activities. It is an accessible and inclusive environment for children, adults, seniors, and people with neurodivergent disabilities
We invite you to experience the color blue in the painting, relaxation, sensory, and stimulation zone on 2th floor of the Wrocław Contemporary Museum. Follow us and participate in events from various fields of art and meetings with artists inspired by the chosen color.
Did you know...
-> The oldest known blue pigment is the mineral lapis lazuli, used by the ancient Egyptians,
-> 71% of our planet's surface is water, which reflects blue light, making the Earth appear blue from orbit,
-> Was indigo dye from the leaves of the indigo plant difficult to obtain due to the plant's complex fermentation and oxidation process? That's why it became a luxury item in the Middle Ages,
-> Impressionists replaced black with blue and navy blue in their paintings,
-> Things perceived as blue do not actually contain blue pigment – their shade is the result of light scattering,
-> Pablo Picasso painted only blue paintings for three years,
-> Most blue animals – primarily butterflies and birds – owe their color to optical effects. Their surface has a texture that refracts light so much that the human brain reads their color as blue,
-> French artist Yves Klein patented the color "International Klein Blue (IKB)" - an intense, almost luminous blue. He created paintings and sculptures using only this color. To draw attention to its depth, he called it "the color of infinity,"
-> Flowers containing blue pigment constitute only 10% of the almost 300,000 species of flowering plants in the world,
-> Wrocław-based artist Wanda Gołkowska created a painting series called "The Blue Collection." In one painting, she cataloged 400 shades of blue, all of which differ tonally, but not every viewer notices these nuances.
As part of the "Colour Laboratory. Blue" project, the Wrocław Contemporary Museum hosted a lecture entitled "The World's Favourite Colour" by colour specialist Aneta Fons, which allowed for tracing the social history of the colour blue. [klik].
