BIO

Alicja Czyczel – an artist who takes on various roles, including choreographer, dancer, performer, researcher, educator, organiser, and facilitator, and works across diverse social contexts, including public cultural institutions, schools and art academies, nongovernmental organisations, and social movements. She situates her work and practice at the intersection of disciplines – the performing and visual arts – and employs tools rooted in dance improvisation, somatic practices, education, and activism. She creates stage choreographies, site-specific performances, sound installations, concerts, poetic scores, and walks that combine ecological sensitivity, queer feminism, and an intersectional perspective. Her walks and artistic explorations most often take place in the vicinity of forests and bodies of water – seas, rivers, wetlands, and ponds. Her art is a practice of being together, of listening, feeling, and celebrating existence in a world inhabited by diverse beings speaking their own languages.

She has appeared in productions and performances by Daniel Kotowski, Ania Nowak, Joanna Piotrowska, and Vincent Dupont. She is the author of the Manifesto for the Ecologization of Independent Choreography and the Performing Arts, published in Dialog Puzyny.
