Long Night of Museums 2026

16.05.2026
16:00 - 00:00

This year’s Night of Museums program at MWW guides visitors through a world of color, sound, image, and movement: from the immersive opening of “Laboratory of colour. Indigo”, through experimental video projections and curatorial narratives about energy, to a performance balancing on the boundary between language and meaning. The night will be completed with ambient sounds over the city panorama and a deeply relaxing meditation accompanied by gong vibrations.

On this day, admission to exhibitions, the museum café, and all events is free of charge. No registration is required.

OPENING: “LABORATORY OF COLOUR. INDIGO”

5:00 PM | level 2

A space for experimental color experience - an artistic and research-based project that, since 2021, has explored the qualities of the seven colors of the visible light spectrum. It creates a cycle of sensual, interactive environments and scenographies combining psychology, art, and design, allowing visitors to literally feel color on their skin. In the “indigo” zone, every form directly affects the nervous system, emotional structures, and cognitive abilities. Interactions invite visitors to expand their inner landscape - through image, scent, sound, movement, and touch.

Authors: Patrycja Mastej and Magdalena Skowrońska

VIDEO CIRCLE

Continuous screening from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM | level 3

Curatorial commentary at: 6:00 PM, 7:30 PM, 9:30 PM

A presentation of video works from the MWW collection with interpretative commentary. At selected times, curators will share insights into rarely presented works.

Block A | 6:00 PM

Sebastian Diaz Morales, The Lost Object, 2016, 14 min 28 sek.
Joan Bennassar, The Sun is Gone but We Still Have the View, 2016, 16 min 12 sek.

Sebastian Diaz Morales and Joan Bennassar explore the limits of imitating reality in their work. Bennassar visually demonstrates that today's film medium has become essentially free from the constraints of the external world. Thanks to modern techniques, professional studios, and post-production, viewers' senses can be easily manipulated, and the resulting image is hyperreal in nature. By presenting artificially created recreational spaces, Bennassar points to the eternal human attachment to nature and, at the same time, the constant need to transform, tame, and adapt it to our whims.

Block B | 7:30 PM

Wojciech Doroszuk, Festin, 2013,  20 min 15 sek.
Taus Makhacheva, Karakuł, 2007, 3 min 16 sek.

The films of Wojciech Doroszuk and Taus Makhacheva reflect on the relationship between humans and other species and the fragility of cultural orders. They challenge the privileged position of humans, revealing the arbitrariness of systems of meaning that exist only within culture. The authors pose questions about the limits of humanity, about the possibility of viewing other species not through the prism of their assigned value, but as autonomous entities. Is coexistence possible that transcends domination and subordination?

Block C | 9:30 PM

Gil Delindro, Rhone, 2019, 9 min 31 sek.
Tamás Kaszás, We are Ancestors, 2016-2018, 18 min 13 sek.

The works of Gil Delindro and Tamás Kaszás are juxtaposed by contrast. The former "gives voice" to inanimate nature – the legendary Rhône Glacier. As part of a research expedition, the artist made an audiovisual recording of the glacier's sound, acquired from numerous microphones and hydrophones placed on it. Kaszás, on the other hand, has created a work of persuasive and speculative nature, reflecting his activist work. He focuses on depicting social life in a world after an ecological catastrophe. The film's style evokes a folk-primitive aesthetic.

Curators: Klaudia Juzyszyn and Jakub Warzocha

CURATORIAL TOUR

7:00 PM | level 4

The exhibition “Art. Energy. Sustainability” by Marco Angelini reflects on the nature of energy—its generation, use, and renewal. The curator presents the concept of Homo Faber, a human shaping the world through work, innovation, and technology, while raising ethical questions about technological progress and sustainability.

Curator: Jan Kozaczuk

AMBIENT HORIZON

8:00 PM | level 6

A format combining nighttime exhibition viewing with music. An ambient, house, and downtempo DJ set will create an immersive atmosphere for experiencing the city panorama. Visitors become both audience and co-creators through shared presence and movement.

Performed by the TŁUM collective and the Independent Students’ Association of the University of Wrocław

ON THE BORDER OF THINGS AND SENTENCES

9:00 PM | Start at level 0, ends at level 5

As Deleuze notes, paradox is not merely a logical contradiction, but a movement of meaning that always runs in both directions simultaneously, preventing identification and shifting the emphasis from one aspect of language to another. Chrysippus, in turn, taught: "if you say something, what you say passes through your mouth. You say 'car.' Therefore, the car passes through your mouth." One could say that everything unfolds at the boundary between things and sentences. Taking these statements as a starting point, the performer in an egg costume (led by the audience) will step into the shoes of the curator. Not shying away from separating meanings from the presented works and their creators' intentions, with a certain tactlessness, he will set the imagination in motion, revealing the arbitrariness of the meanings attributed to the works and provoking the audience to their own creative interpretations.

Performer: Grzegorz Demczuk

GONG MEDITATION

10:00 PM | level 0

Authentic peace appears where the hustle and bustle of everyday life subsides. Relaxing gong concerts calm the nervous system and—to quote qi gong master D. Conreaux—"massage the soul." Gongs, an instrument with powerful energy and profound sound, have been used for centuries in relaxation and spiritual practices. The sound penetrates the body's neural structures intensely, inducing a state of deep relaxation, even trance. The event will be both performative and workshop-based. During the meeting, we will introduce elements of ASMR and sensory experiences. By pouring sand and drawing in it, we will reference primal rituals, the human mind leaving a trace of presence.

Performed by Magdalena Wołoszyn, guided by Sylwia Owczarek

During museum opening hours (4:00 PM–12:00 AM), the café “Czuła Jest Noc” will be open on level 6.
